Dwarf Marine Heliotrope

Annual - One Season Plant - Height 14 to 18 inches

An old time favorite in the flower garden known for its highly fragrant clusters of blue flowers and dark green veined foliage.

Special Directions for Short Season Climates

SOWING: For earlier blooming, sow seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before last frost. Plant in pots or trays covering seed with 1/16 inch of fine soil well pressed down. Water carefully or by misting. Provide young seedlings with ample light.

TRANSPLANTING: Transplant seedlings into garden when a few inches high after danger of frost has passed. Space plants one foot apart.

GERMINATION: Usually two to three weeks depending upon soil temperature. Keep soil moderately moist during germination period.

Ed's Special Advice

Heliotrope is somewhat slow growing so start seeds indoors for best results. Plant in full sun and fairly rich soil. Excellent for use around tomatoes, because its fragrance attracts bees, which help pollinate their flowers. Avoid over-watering.
