Popular pickling cucumber for the west. This variety produces uniform, prolific smaller cucumbers. Ideal size for pickling. Approximately 56 days to maturity. Can be grown on trellis or fence for support.
Special Directions for Short Season Climates
SOWING: Start in pots indoors or seed directly into sunny garden area after danger of frost has passed. Cover with 1/4 inch of soil.
SPACING: Leave 8 inches between plants. Space in rows 3 feet apart or place 6-8 seeds in hills that are spaced 4 to 5 feet apart.
GERMINATION: Approximately one week in 70 F temperatures, longer in cooler weather.
Ed's Special Advice
Rich, well-drained soil is ideal for cucumbers. Processed manure or compost are excellent soil additives. Water deeply and feed every 3 weeks. Pick fruit regularly when young pickle size for best flavor, texture and continued harvest.
