SQUASH Round Zucchini
Bush Summer Squash
An unusually shaped delicious zucchini variety. This round type can be used in salads, baked, stir-fried or in zucchini bread and works especially well for stuffed zucchini recipes because of its shape. Compact plants produce round to oblong fruit throughout the summer. Approximately 45 days to maturity.
Special Directions for Short Season Climates
SOWING: Seed directly into the garden in late spring after the weather has warmed and all danger of frost has passed. Cover seeds with l/2 inch of fine soil.
SPACING: Plant 4 to 6 seeds in hills spaced 3 to 4 feet apart or space rows about 3 feet apart.
THINNING: When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall thin to 3 sturdiest plants per hill. In rows, thin to 18 inches apart.
GERMINATION: Approximately 1 to 2 weeks depending upon weather and soil warmth. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed's Special Advice
Zucchini grows best in well-drained fairly rich soil kept moderately moist. Pick fruit when young for best flavor, texture and continued production, softball size work best for stuffing. An easy-to-grow and unusual addition to your home garden.
