Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: Sow seeds directly outdoors, ideally in July for blooms the following year. Space seeds 2 inches apart and cover with 1/8-inch fine soil and firm down over seed. THINNING: When plants are about 2 inches high thin to 8 to 10 inches apart. GERMINATION: One to two weeks at 70 F. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Plant in full sun or partial shade. Prefers a somewhat moist cool climate. Remove spent flowers to encourage second blooming. Will bloom the second year and reseed itself if allowed. Be sure to keep young plants watered during heat of summer.
