ROCK GARDEN Low Growing Flower Mixture Annuals & Perennials - Height to one foot This easy to grow annual and perennial mixture was carefully selected to transform a slope or foreground of a planting bed into a tapestry of flower and foliage colors and texture . The annual varieties grow rapidly and will, complete their life cycle within a year. Perennial varieties will live for more than two years wherever climate and garden conditions are suitable. Included among other varieties may be Alyssum, Arabis, Aubretia, Dianthus, English Daisy, lberis, Livingstone Daisy, Lobelia, Phlox, Portulaca and Thyme. Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: Sow seeds directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For earlier blossoms sow seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before last frost. Cover seeds with 1/16 inch fine soil. THINNING & TRANSPLANTING: When seedlings are about 2 inches tall thin or transplant 8 to 10 inches apart. GERMINATION: One to three weeks depending upon variety. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Select a sunny location with well drained soil. Cultivate soil and rake smooth. Scatter seeds over planting area, mix with sand or other soil for greater coverage. Lightly rake seed in to a depth of 1/16 inch. Firm soil down and water carefully. Water when necessary and feed every 4 to 6 weeks. Remove old flowers to stimulate new blossoms.
