DRIED FLOWER MIXTURE Annuals & Perennials-One or more season plants - Heights Vary from 1 to 3 feet. This carefully formulated mixture contains a selection of easy to grow varieties that will provide brilliant color in the garden, and in fresh or dried arrangements. Dried flowers, also known as everlastings, are grown to be dried and arranged for long-lived winter bouquets, pressed flower pictures, wreaths, window ornaments, shadow boxes and potpourri. Included, among others may be Strawflower, Babysbreath, Lunaria, Chinese Lantern, Bells of Ireland, Yarrow and Statice. Special Directions for Short Season Climates SOWING: Sow seeds directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For earlier blossoms sow seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before last frost. Cover seeds with 1/8 inch fine soil. THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Thin or transplant seedlings to about a foot apart when 2 inches tall. GERMINATION: Varies from one to four weeks depending upon variety. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Ed's Special Advice Select a sunny location with well drained soil. Cultivate soil and rake smooth. Scatter seeds over planting area, mix with sand or other soil for greater coverage. Lightly rake seed into a depth of 1/8 inch. Firm soil down and water carefully. Cut stems of flowers just before they are fully open. Hang bunches of stems upside down in a shady, well ventilated place.
