Bright yellow and maroon flowers bloom over a long period. It is also know as Calliopsis or Plains Coreopsis. Useful in low borders where a semi-wild look is desired. Tolerant of drought and poor soils it grows quickly and easily from seed.
Special Directions For Short Season Climates
SOWING: Sow seed in place in spring after danger of severe frost has passed. Barely cover seed with light soil or firm into soil with the back of your hand.
SPACING & THINNING: Carefully thin young seedlings when about 2 inches tall to about 8 inches apart. Plants do not transplant well.
GERMINATION: 7 to 1 0 days. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
Ed's Special Advice
Select a sunny location with well-drained soil. Water only when dry, after plant is established. Keep spent flowers picked for prolonged blooming. Can be sown in fall in areas with mild winters.
